I've been blogging for years now and now I'm going to write my first blog post in English. Thanks, Google Translate. I've been working as a freelancer for months now. In the past few weeks, I was assigned an English writing task by my manager and I have 20 days to finish it. It is a very easy but hard task. Thanks, Google Translate. It's a fact that my previous English writing task was also very easy and it took less than half a day to finish it. So what in the world is going on in this new English writing assignment? You would be surprised to know that the new English writing assignment was actually an introduction to my blog post. I didn't know this until I started writing its actual content and I noticed that Google Translate had been translating each sentence of the intro into something completely different than what it originally said. Fortunately, my writing skills in Arabic, Persian and Urdu are so advanced that I can write in any language. Even though I'm an English speaker, I chose to write my blog post in Arabic for this English-speaking audience. This is exactly what happens whenever I give Google Translate a complete sentence - it translates each word into another one without any idea of the meaning of the phrase. This is not what good translators do, right? The complete sentence should keep its original meaning after translation. That's the difference between professional translators and machine translators. Machine translators are very hard to use if you want your translated text to be meaningful after it is translated into another language. It seems like Google Translate has been very confused by each and every word in this sentence and it interpreted the sentence in a different way based on the meaning of one or more words.
